UMOJA 2020 Fellowship Program Call for Applications Deadline: 6 July 2020 Applications are now open for the 2020 UMOJA Fellowship which is part of the UMOJA Unlocked 2020 Short Course (further information on the course can be found on the website: https://umoja-shortcourse.uwc.org). The mission of the Fellowship Program is to provide United World College East Africa (UWCEA) students and/or former UMOJA Short Course (SC) participants with an opportunity to undertake a leadership and facilitation experience in a multicultural environment. Additionally, it is designed to offer fellows a chance to develop skills such as working within a team from the perspective of Course planning and/ or facilitation, with the hope that these skills could be used in your future endeavours in community engagement. The following are the program’s benefits: Receiving mentoring by an UMOJA coordinator. Learning about facilitation in multicultural environments. Co-facilitating workshops with experienced facilitators. Please apply if you are: Currently a student at UWC East Africa and/or a former UMOJA Short Course participant. Between 16-20 years old. Commitment to adhere to UWC ideals and Umoja Fellowship Code of Conduct. Available for pre-Short Course period (July) and to facilitate one session of the Short Course (August) as directed by Fellowship Coordinator. Demonstrated interest in community building. Interest in learning how to develop content and facilitate workshops. Passion and lots of infectious energy. Availability: The Fellowship Program will run from 11 July- 1 August and will require a commitment of 2-3 hours per week for online training. You will need a digital device with internet access for these discussions. In order to successfully complete the program, fellows will be required to work together, using the skills and knowledge acquired to design and facilitate a session at the 2020 UMOJA Unlocked Short Course. If you are interested in applying please submit a short bio of +=300 words where you include previous community service experience, leadership roles and future professional aspirations as well as a one-page cover letter in which you explain ‘’what Community Engagement means to you’’. Applications must be submitted through the google form below by Monday 6 July 2020. Please include in your application if you will need assistance with data.
